If you're Steven Spielberg and the last movie you directed was Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Shitty Skull, what do you follow it up with? A remake!
Spielberg has signed on to direct a remake of Harvey, an adaptation of the Mary Chase Pulitzer Prize-winning play about a man )played by Jimmy Stewart in the 1950 film version) who befriends a 6½-foot-tall invisible rabbit. For those who haven't seen the film, think a slightly less creepy Donnie Darko.
Spielberg is aiming to start production early next year and is expected to reach out to his bevy of heavy hitting stars, i.e. Tom Hanks, Will Smith, Tom Cruise, to fill Stewart's iconic shoes.
We're always excited to have Spielberg jump into the director's chair, but a remake of Harvey sounds a little weird to us.
