News broke that Fox would be revisiting the Alien franchise in the form of a prequel, and the fans erupted. Then Ridley Scott was announced as a producer and had handpicked his almost, not quite, son-in-law, Carl Erik Rinsch, to direct. Rinsch had been a commercial director who has an eye for the futuristic-- and Ridley's commercial director daughter apparently.
However sources at Fox are now saying they are only interested in a greenlight if Ridley himself is willing to take to the director's chair. Which is good news for the franchise probably but bad news for fans as this may put quite the speed bump in you seeing any more Alien films anytime soon. What do you guys say? Give the new kid a chance, or stick with Ridley?
