Variety is reporting today that Hollywood mega moneymaker Paul Haggis will be remaking the French thriller Pour Elle. The film, which came out way back in 2008, is supposedly about a high school teacher who comes up with a daring plan to get his wife out of prison. Haggis' film, titled Next Three Days, will focus on a man and woman "pushed to the limits of their love."
Why is this news? Because Haggis has experienced moderate success over the past several years. He wrote Million Dollar Baby and Casino Royale, wrote and produced Letters From Iwo Jima and pulled off the triple play when he wrote, produced and directed Crash. And even though I haven't seen it, I've heard good things about In the Valley of Elah, which he also wrote, produced and directed. Basically what I'm getting at here is, when Haggis is involved with a project we should pay the fuck attention.
