Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian - (46% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes)
Actual synopsis:
" It's a new 'Night' and 'Museum' for Ben Stiller, who is joined by several other stars from the original film, as well as new characters from history. The centerpiece of the film will be bringing to life the Smithsonian Institution, which houses the world's largest museum complex with more than 136 million items in its collections, ranging from the plane Amelia Earhart flew on her nonstop solo flight across the Atlantic and Al Capone's rap sheet and mug shot to Dorothy's ruby red slippers and Archie Bunker's lounge chair. No major film has ever shot inside the Smithsonian in Washington…until Night at the Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian."
So apparently there is no story--all the allure comes from seeing someone film actually inside THE SMITHSONIAN. Reviews are about in line with the first film, which I think we all hated, and critical consensus says it's busy enough to keep the kids interested but the slapstick goes overboard and the special effects (however well executed) throw the production into mania.
Dance Flick - (29% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes)
Dance Flick is a new comedy that brings together two generations of the Wayans family, the same team that brought us the Scary Movie franchise and White Chicks. In Dance Flick, a young street dancer, Thomas Uncles (Damon Wayans, Jr.), from the wrong side of the tracks and a beautiful young woman, Megan White (Shoshana Bush), are brought together by their passion for dancing and put to the test in the mother of all dance battles. Critics are calling it everything from "actually funny" to "worst movie of the year", so watch at your own risk. If Little Man and White Chicks made you laugh, you should enjoy this...scratch that, if Little Man and White Chicks made you laugh, hit yourself in the head with a tack hammer.
