The International - (57% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes) Pick of the Week

Interpol Agent Louis Salinger (Clive Owen) and Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Eleanor Whitman (Naomi Watts) are determined to bring to justice one of the world’s most powerful banks. Uncovering myriad and reprehensible illegal activities, Salinger and Whitman follow the money from Berlin to Milan to New York to Istanbul. In the glamorous world of New York City, Rebecca Bloomwood (Isla Fischer) is a fun-loving girl who dreams of working for her favorite fashion magazine, but can’t quite get her foot in the door –- until ironically, she snags a job as an advice columnist for a financial magazine published by the same company. The cast list seems like it might be good but critical consensus tells us this middling romantic comedy underutilizes a talented cast and delivers muddled messages on materialism and conspicuous consumption.
