The Wrestler - (97% on Rotten Tomatoes) Pick of the Week
Darren Aronofsky has crafted his best reviewed film yet, and no one seems afraid to say it while heaping praise and awards on the man and its star. The Wrestler tells the story of a battered and broken wrestler (Mickey Rourke) well past his prime but giving it one last go--to exit the grand arena on his own terms. But the film is so much more than that, centering the story on characters that will wrench your heart. Yes, you can check your local listings, but no, you probably won't find it listed until it expands in late December to early January unless you live in NYC or LA.

Seven Pounds - (29% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes)
Will Smith reunites with his Pursuit of Happyness director Gabriele Muccino to tell the story of plays Ben Thomas, an IRS agent with a fateful secret who embarks on an extraordinary journey of redemption by forever changing the lives of seven strangers. Critics are calling it the Pursuit of Misery with its morose story and illogical plot.
The Tale of Desperaux - (47% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes)
When the Princess of Dor goes missing, only tiny Despereaux -- recently rejected from the Mousedom for his differences from other mice - comes to the rescue. Most critics are saying it's visually stunning but lacks the charm and magic of another rodent-starring feature.
