Julie & Julia - (67% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes) Pick of the Week
Based on two true stories, Julie & Julia intertwines the lives of two women who, though separated by time and space, are both at loose ends...until they discover that with the right combination of passion, fearlessness and butter, anything is possible. Critics are saying the film is boosted by Meryl Streep's charismatic performance as Julia Child, and that Julie and Julia is a light, but fairly entertaining culinary comedy.
G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra - (41% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes)
From the Egyptian desert to deep below the polar ice caps, the elite G.I. JOE team uses the latest in next-generation spy and military equipment to fight the corrupt arms dealer Destro and the growing threat of the mysterious Cobra organization to prevent them from plunging the world into chaos. I'm sold. It wasn't screened for critics so there isn't a mass consensus, but it seems as though this is might be the mindless escapist popcorn fun we have been waiting for....stupid Transformers.
