The Time Traveler's Wife - (43% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes)
Based on the best selling book of the same name, Henry is a time traveler -- cursed with a rare genetic anomaly that causes him to live his life on a shifting timeline, skipping back and forth through his lifespan with no control. Clare has been in love with Henry her entire life. She believes they are destined to be together, even though she never knows when they will be separated. Critics are saying though it may satisfy fans of the novel, The Time Traveler's Wife's plot contrivances and illogical narrative hamper its big screen effectiveness.
Ponyo - (96% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes)
From the Academy Award®-winning director and world-renowned Japanese animation legend Hayao Miyazaki comes PONYO, a story inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale “The Little Mermaid.” Already a box-office success in Japan, the story of a young and overeager goldfish named Ponyo and her quest to become human. Critics agree while it's not Miyazaki's best film, Ponyo is a visually stunning fairy tale that's a sweetly poetic treat for children of all ages.
