So this summer sucked, and, yeah, a lot of the films I was anticipating were the main reason for it. You read my list, you trusted me, and I left you with 10 bucks missing off your dresser and half a handjob. I'm sorry, and I hope I can make it up to you by having fine tuned my radar for a fall anticipation list. There are simply too many good-looking movies coming out, and I'm way too excited about more than five, but, for your sake, I narrowed it down to five and one guilty pleasure.

Where the Wild Things Are
October 16
I know it's hip to say you liked this book since way back when, but I really have. I remember being a young Canadian boy who spent so much time in the library reading this book that they up and gave me their copy because I had it out so much. Spike Jonze is a talent, and the trailers have been everything you could want. Man, that Arcade Fire song and those visuals....I want to go to there.

The Road
October 19 (with rumor of push back to Thanksgiving)
I love post-apocalyptic movies. I loved I am Legend; I dug 28 Days Later, Waterworld, Tank Girl, and so many more that show me what life could be like after most of it ends. To see John Hillcoat (The Proposition) making a movie based on the Cormac McCarthy novel starring the always impressive Viggo Mortensen excites me to no end. I hope that the delay is all rumor, but I'm pretty sure it isn't. I hate waiting, but if I must, I might as well stock up on canned goods and shotgun shells.

This Is It
October 28
Michael Jackson's music taught me how to dance. I simply put on "Rock With You" and found out how my body could move and for that I will be forever grateful, because it introduced me to a) exercise and b) women. This concert documentary is the last thing he will leave behind and will have a two week run starting at the end of October. Tickets go on sale at the end of this month, and, you better believe, I'm snatching one of those up.

The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus
December 25
Terry Gilliam is an absolute master and is all too often overlooked. His latest has the late great Heath Ledger's final performance as well as Colin Farrell, Johnny Depp, and Jude Law. The film tells the story of a traveling theater company that gives its audience much more than they were expecting. I can't wait to see this, and if you can't either, watch Time Bandits and Brazil to tide you over.

Sherlock Holmes
December 25
Guy Ritchie, Jude Law, and one Robert Downey Jr. That enough had me going. Then I saw the set photos and read some interviews; and THEN I saw the trailers, and I'm now in a full-on fever to see this film. It looks like a nonstop blast of top-notch acting, charm, action, and all-around fun.

Guilty Pleasure
Zombieland
October 2
Apocalypse, zombies, and Woody Harrelson being a total badass--it's like they made this movie just for me. To top all that off, it's got excessive violence and a cast of really talented actors. Watch that trailer and tell me you aren't even a little curious...seriously I dare you.
