2009 hasn't been the best year for everyone's favorite lovably odd leading man Steve Buscemi. Besides appearing in a handful of smaller films, Buscemi biggest roles were voice work in G-Force and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Ugh. Well, Buscemi is returning to the big screen with something that looks a bit more promising in 2010 — Saint John of Las Vegas.
In the film, Buscemi plays John, a compulsive gambler who gives up cards and Vegas nightlife for a boring desk job and scratch-off tickets in Albuquerque. Forced to face his temptations, John ends up back in Sin City when his boss sends him to Vegas with a fraud investigator named Virgil, played by Romany Malco (The 40 Year Old Virgin). Somewhere along the way, he seems to find a love interest in co-worker Jill (Sarah Silverman). The film is directed by Hue Rhodes and co-stars Peter Dinklage (The Station Agent, Elf) and Entourage beauty Emmanuelle Chriqui.
Saint John of Las Vegas premieres in select theaters Jan. 29. 2010.
