Bloody sequels go 3D

I'll admit that 3D is pretty impressive when used correctly. I'm not a big fan of every movie going 3D just for shits and giggles, so I find it a little weird when a couple of low budget comedy sequels are in the works in 3D.

According to Variety, Sony is in the process of bringing back the Zombieland team for a second installment, but in 3D. And Paramount has greenlit a third Jackass, which will also be shot in 3D. While 3D films are as uncommon as they used to be, they have mainly been reserved for animated flicks and big budget blockbusters (cough cough Avatar), not so much for the small, bloody comedies.

"Everyone had fun watching (the first) Zombieland; making it a more visceral experience can only make it better," said the film's producer Gavin Polone. "I don't think you want to see 'Ordinary People' in 3-D. But Zombieland is clearly one movie that will benefit from (the technique)."

Sony has closed deals with Polone and helmer Ruben Fleischer to return for a sequel to the original, and the studio is currently in talks with stars Woody Harrelson and Jesse Eisenberg to reprise their roles.

MTV Films is even further along with Jackass 3, with filming scheduled to begin Jan. 25.

Are you going to want to see someone staple their butt cheeks together in 3D? Oh, who am I kidding...?
