With Iron Man II sitting in the can, and the studio mulling over whether or not to convert it to 3D for next summer's release, John Favreau has some time on his hands. Well, it appears as though he has been roped in by his iron-clad buddy Robert Downey Jr. to direct the Dreamworks/Universal long gestating property Cowboys and Aliens.

The production is set to start shooting next summer with Star Trek scribes Alex Kurtzman and Robert Orci hammering out the screenplay for this one.

The story takes place in Silver City, Arizona, where Apache Indians and Western settlers must lay their differences aside when an alien spaceship crash lands in their city.

Color me excited. You?

Does the thought of reboots make you want to rip your eyes from your face? Well, avert your gaze.

Variety reports that Fantastic Four will get the redo treatment from 20th Century Fox with Akiva Goldsman (I Am Legend, Hancock) as producer. Fortunately, Goldsman — who wrote both Batman Forever and Batman and Robin — won't be handling the do-over's script. Co-writer of the upcoming Green Lantern film Michael Green (Heroes, Smallville) will have that honor.

Though this follows recent news of Disney's purchase of Marvel Comics for $4 billion, that deal has no impact on Marvel properties Fox has licensed from the comic book company, including X-Men, Silver Surfer, Fantastic Four and Daredevil.

You ready for more Rambo? Why the hell not, right?

Nu Image/Millennium Films has greenlit the franchise's fifth installment with Sylvester Stallone starring and directing, repeating his duties from 2008's Rambo.

Allegedly the plot revolves around Rambo fighting his way through human traffickers and drug lords to rescue a young girl abducted near the U.S.-Mexico border. Production will start in the spring.

We all know Stallone's still got the good physically, but is 20 years too long to be fighting his way through jungles? Only time will tell.

From the mastermind who blew the shit out of 1,000 ships and dropped a hundred corpses on a highway comes the green-lit sequel to soon be a threequel...Bad Boys 3.

Columbia Pictures is developing a script written by Peter Craig, whose recent credits include Cowboy Bebop and Ben Affleck’s The Town (co-writer). Bay, Martin Lawrence, and Will Smith have all talked about wanting to return back, and frankly after witnessing the glory of Bad Boys 2, how could we not all want to join them. What are your thoughts?

Judd Apatow recently sat down with Empire Magazine and let slip a few hints regarding Ron Burgundy's future in film.

"The great thing is,” he told Empire, “Will can be any age and play that character. Those anchormen sometimes have their jobs until they’re 75 years old. So we would always laugh that this movie could work if everybody’s really elderly.”

I'm on board with seeing an older Ron, especially since that means he will be past his hey day and into the 80s. Anchorman is one of those movies that has just grown on me more and more. What do you guys think? Old Burgundy or no?

"I would do anything to go back to the world of District 9 again. Or District 10." - Neil Blomkamp said in a recent interview. He went on to say. "I'd love to make a sequel, because it's so creatively rewarding to me; there's just something about [the story]," he told Fangoria. "It's my background mixed with the science fiction that I loved. I'd really like to go back to the world of District 9—which, without Sharlto's character, would be a very different kind of movie. So I think automatically the two of us will be reunited again, should the public decide that this film is something they want to see and it's successful."

I for one would be all for a District 9 sequel. The film was a perfect stand-alone, but laid the groundwork expertly for a potential sequel.

Yesterday MTV reported a story  that Hugh Jackman was already working on a follow-up to this summer's disappointment, Wolverine. While we are optimistic about a follow up, and we certainly love Jackman, we just can't help but be leery of what a sequel holds. Let's hope they learned something from the relative failure of the first film. Jackman tell us, "Japan is where we're heading, [and] we're starting to work on it now," He adds, "We're in ... the first steps of developing that story."

Many remember the Japan storyline from the popular 1982 miniseries comic book done by Frank Miller and Chris Claremon. While Jackman didn't officially confirm that the film would follow that storyline, he did say, "I think the fans love that saga," he said. "It's my favorite saga of the Wolverine stories. That's a movie I've longed to make from the beginning, so that's where we're heading."

Continuing the trend of children's toys and games being made into
major motion picture films, LEGO has agreed to terms with Warner Bros. to make a feature length, LEGO-inspired film. The screenplay is being written by Dan and Kevin Hageman, who wrote the screenplay for Carpe Demon: Adventures of a Demon-Hunting Soccer Mom (holy shit why have I not seen this movie?). The plot is said to be 'top secret.'
Normally I'd be incredibly skeptical of such an idea but the LEGO
video games are a ridiculous amount of fun and I can't even count the number of hours I spent playing with LEGOs as a kid. No word on if the film is live action or not but I can only assume it will be computer animated. With so many different lego sets, the bigger question is where will the plot go? Space? The race track? Robin Hood's forest? I imagine our hero trying to rebuild his vehicle after it breaks apart but not being able to find the right building block amongst a huge pile of other LEGOs.

Variety is reporting that:

"Twentieth Century Fox has attached Hugh Jackman to play American showman P.T. Barnum in The Greatest Showman on Earth, an original contemporary musical to be scripted by Jenny Bicks (Sex and the City). The film will be produced by Laurence Mark (Dreamgirls), Jackman and his Seed partner John Palermo. It is an outgrowth of their work together on the 81st Academy Awards, on which Jackman was host, Mark was exec producer, and Bicks was part of the Emmy-nominated writing team.

Jackman will play the showman with a penchant for hoaxing a gullible public as he creates the three-ring circus that made him famous. The musical also focuses on his infatuation with singer Jenny Lind -- the so-called Swedish Nightingale.

Pic will have a contemporary musical score, and the studio is in talks with British singer-songwriter Mika to write music and lyrics.

The musical follows the old Hollywood tradition in which tuners were scripted with specific actors in mind. The Lind role is being scripted for Anne Hathaway, who teamed with Jackman in his opening Oscars number."

It's like I'm flying...IN 3D!
Think about all the old movies you would like to see in re-done in 3D.
Imagine the T-1000 walking out of the exploded gas truck in Terminator 2, the attack on the Death Star in Star Wars or even the dinosaurs from Jurassic Park would be awesome in 3D. Sorry I got your hopes up because with some of Hollywood's top heavyweights preparing their classics for the big 3D screen, the first out of the gate will be James Cameron's Titanic. Yes, Titanic. Director James Cameron hinted at the possibility of a 3D sinking ship at Comic-Con and all but confirmed it when talking with Empire earlier this week:

“We’re going to do Titanic in 3-D! We’ve already done a 90 second clip of it and it’s phenomenal and gorgeous, so that’s going to be the
project for next year. It’s a conversion of it, not native photography; we can’t go back.”

Titanic is the highest grossing film of all-time, so there is
definitely a market for a re-release but I can't help but be
disappointed. Hopefully Titanic will refine the process of converting
a film to 3D and pave the way for something I'd actually want to see
again. Like something with more boobs in it.

What films would you want to see re-released in 3D?
