The DGA have just announced their list for outstanding achievement in directing this year, and these nominees are significant. Why? Brit director Duncan Jones' debut pic Moon received 10 nominations and should be placed in your Netflix qeue NOW. The PGA has just announced their nominees and it appears as though those 10 Oscar nominees set to be announced in February are beginning to be harder and harder to predict. Star Trek, previously thought to have an outside shot at a best pic nomination, was included on the list, as was District 9. 3 science fiction films on the best picture list? That's unheard of, but so is including an animated film and with a PGA nomination Up is gaining just the right amount of steam to knock down that barrier come February. What do you guys think? Anything omitted? You excited about these noms? Sound off after you check out the full list of nominees below.

Answer: Up in the Air. With six nominations, the George Clooney flick topped the Golden Globe nominations, beating out other Best Picture Drama contenders, The Hurt Locker, Inglourious Basterds, Previous, and even Avatar, which is getting a late surge to become a possible Oscar heavyweight.

Most races are pretty straightforward with not many surprises, especially the supporting categories, which seem pretty locked for the rest of the awards season. A couple of surprises, though: no Jeremy Renner for Best Actor Drama for The Hurt Locker, the lack of the Coen Bros. A Serious Man, the inclusion of Sandra Bullock in Best Actress Drama, and the lack of the Hangover guys in any categories.
