Crispin fits like a Glover 10/24/2008
1 Comment

Crispin Glover looks like he will be green suiting up for the Tim Burton directed Alice In Wonderland. Glover is no stranger to the motion capture style Burton will be utilizing as he played the monstrous Grendel, with incredible skill, in last years Beowulf. Crispin Glover has signed on to play the Knave of Hearts in Tim Burton's adaptation and joins Mia Wasikowska as Alice and a cast that includes Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway and Helena Bonham Carter.

Synecdoche, New York - (62% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes) Pick of the Week

Check out the review of one of our most anticipated movies of the fall HERE in our Reviews Section. Synecdoche, New York hits limited release this weekend and looks to expand in the coming weeks.

High School Music 3: Senior Year
- (59% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes) -

Troy and Gabriella embark on their senior year only to be confronted with the reality of having to go to different schools. Oh no! I'm sure they will come up with some sort of solution via an intricate song and dance number. Bet on it! Join the rest of the Cougars as they stage an elaborate spring musical reflecting their experiences, hopes and fears about their future...(I think I just puked a little in my mouth.)

Pride and Glory - (29% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes)

Edward Norton and Colin Farrell play brothers in a family of cops in this drama. After several New York City cops are killed, one brother must investigate his own family as he tries to solve the difficult case. Sounds a little been there done that.

Saw V - (09% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes)

With everyone else dead and rotting, it's up to Hoffman to continue Jigsaw's murderous traditions. When he feels that his identity might be discovered, the killer has to use all his training as a detective to track down anything--and anyone--that might expose him. I'm willing to wager people might die in inventive ways, and there will be less than 5 minutes devoted to plot. Can we stop making these already?

Ledger stares you down in Gilliam's Dr. Parnassus photo 10/22/2008

Terry Gilliam's The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus has released a still of Heath Ledger's final performance. Gilliam has crafted a fantastical morality tale, set in the present day. It film tells the story of Dr. Parnassus and his extraordinary Imaginarium, a traveling show where members of the audience get an irresistible opportunity to choose between light and joy or darkness and gloom. Blessed with the extraordinary gift of guiding the imaginations of others, Dr. Parnassus is cursed with a dark secret. Long ago he made a deal with the devil, Mr. Nick, in which he won immortality. Many centuries later, on meeting his one true love, Dr. Parnassus made another deal with the devil, trading his immortality for youth, on condition that when his first-born reached its 16th birthday he or she would become the property of Mr. Nick.

Upon Ledger's death, Colin Farrel, Johnny Depp, and Jude Law stepped in to finish Ledger's final performance. This is one of those movies I can't help but get excited about as it seems like vintage Gilliam. It doesn't hurt that he has an incredible ensemble to boot.

According to Variety, a cast list is starting to fall into place for the American remake of 13 Tzameti. 50 Cent, Mickey Rourke, and Jason Statham are set to star opposite Sam Riley. The original writer/director is back to remake his film for American audiences.

13
is the story of a naive, young man who assumes a dead man's identity and then finds himself embroiled in an underground world of power, violence, and chance where men gamble behind closed doors on the lives of other men.

I saw the original film on Netflix a while back, and it's edge of your seat intensity. If you get a chance you should really check out the original.

Haunted is happening. 10/22/2008

New School Media has just snatched up the rights to the Chuck Palahniuk novel Haunted. Belgian filmmaker Koen Mortier has signed on to write and adapt the film about a group of writers who sign up for a secret retreat to finish their masterpieces. Once there, they are locked in this old theatre and begin to create misery for themselves in order to provide them with the best story once they are rescued.

IMDb and Wikipedia are hard pressed to find anything out about Mortier but upon YouTubing his name, we came across several of his trailers, and he seems to have some visual flair. And according to IMDb he has won several awards for his film, so here's hoping it's awesome.

Pimps up, hoes down. Rudy Ray Moore RIP. 10/21/2008

"All my jive is original, Jack,
If you hear it somewhere else,
Somebody's a copy cat."

-Rudy Ray Moore

The Godfather of Rap is dead. Snoop Dogg once said, ""Without Rudy Ray Moore, there would be no Snoop Dogg, and that's for real." The 81-year old star of 70's blaxploitation films, such as Dolemite, passed away Sunday night in Toledo, Ohio from complications due to diabetes.

Moore was a comedian, filmmaker, and blues singer. He was famous for his confidence, his sexually explicit raps, comedy albums, and films.
Rudy Ray was born March 17, 1927, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. The oldest of seven children, he had to develop his extroverted personality just to be noticed. When he was 15, his family moved to Cleveland, where he began singing in church, eventually graduating to the city's rhythm and blues clubs. He later took his act to Los Angeles, where he worked as a DJ and began touring on the famed "Chitlin' Scene" as a stand-up comedian.

Moore is survived by four of his siblings, his daughter Yvette "Rusty" Wesson and his 98-year-old mother, Lucille.

Say hi to your mother for me, okay? 10/20/2008

Sometimes I feel like the guy at a restaurant who made the mistake of ordering something completely disgusting. Upon my first taste, I jump back and gasp, "this tastes like raccoon fecal matter!" And in this equation, America would be playing the role of the dumb friend who goes, "No way, let me try it." He tastes, "Aw man that does taste like shit, why didn't you tell me?"

In any event, head over to our Box Office Results Section and check out the gruesome twosome of Max Payne and Beverly Hills Chihuahua duking it out for first and second place.
