Raise of hands of those who actually still watch the MTV Movie Awards? Yeah, us neither. Well, for those who didn't tune in, MTV previewed the first official trailer of Twilight sequel, New Moon--no, all those cheesy fan-made trailers with shirtless Robert Pattinson shots don't count.

Click below and let us know what you think. For me, it looks like Kristen Stewart is still suffering a case of over-acting-itis. And okay, Taylor Lautner did pack on some muscle, and sure, I have to remind myself that he's 17, and it's far too creepy to find him attractive. Other than that the trailer looks pretty "meh" to me.

It's should come as no surprise that on the day Pixar releases Up in theaters nationwide that the teaser trailer for Toy Story 3 found itself all over the internet (and attached to prints of Up). Damn you Pixar! Can't you give me just one day that I'm not looking forward to one of your films? The release date is June 18, 2010 so I'll just tack up the new countdown calendar where the one for Up used to be.

The teaser doesn't reveal much other than that Buzz, Woody and the whole gang will be back for another round hijinks similar to the first two films. I could question Pixar about revisiting this franchise but just the teaser had me grinning to myself. If it's not broke, don't fix it.

Brace yourselves, because between now and November 20 you are going to see somewhere between 3-4 million promotional pieces and tie ins for the new Twilight movie. It's Hollywood's new way of promoting films, why spend money on a commercial when you can release a still photo from the movie and have it plastered all over the interwebs.

While The Movie Press will do its best to filter out all the crap (we got a press release when the first movie poster for New Moon came out, la-dee-frickin-da) it is worth noting that the first trailer for The Twighlight Saga: New Moon  will have its world premiere on the MTV Movie Awards this Sunday, May 31. You can then visit mtv.com or MySpace to watch it again in high def if you like. Or just come to our site, because we will no doubt be posting it too...sigh.

Next year's highly anticipated comedy Paul is the story of two sci-fi nerds on a road trip to Comic-Con who along the way pick up an alien named Paul. Written by and starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, the plot sounds promising, and with director Greg Mottola's influence you've got a bona fide buzz movie. Well it just got worse. Variety is reporting that Jason bateman, Bill Hader, Kristen Wiig and Jane Lynch have joined the cast, with Seth Rogen providing the voice of the alien.

It seems to me like comedy movies are turning incestuous. I can't remember the last comedy I saw that didn't have Will Ferrel, Seth Rogen or Paul Rudd in it. I know people talk about this "fraternity" they have but I think there is actually an internment camp with horrible living conditions where directors show up with film crews and force the same 20 actors to mass produce comedies.

Fox Searchlight will be holding a bunch of advance word of mouth promo screenings for 500 Days of Summer. The film stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Tom, a hapless greeting card copywriter and hopeless romantic, who is blindsided after his girlfriend Summer, Zooey Deschanel, dumps him, he shifts back and forth through various periods of their 500 days to try to figure out where things went wrong.

I first saw this at SXSW and fell head over heals in love with it, so much so that I put it on my summer anticipation list, because I was so excited to see it again.

Searchlight is holding screenings in New Orleans, Memphis, Denver, Houston, Austin, Kansas City, Cleveland, Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Albany, Seattle, San Antonio, Minneapolis and Chicago. Head on over to FoxSearchlight.com to RSVP. The RSVP doesn't guarantee you admittance, but it gives you reason to show up early and wait in line.

If Bruce Willis could be anyone, he would be himself...with HAIR. The movie comes out September 25th, which isn't exactly the best slot in the world, but the trailer looks engaging enough to be a post summer/pre-fall funtime movie. What do you guys think?

Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian - (46% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes)

Actual synopsis:

The centerpiece of the film will be bringing to life the Smithsonian Institution, which houses the world's largest museum complex with more than 136 million items in its collections, ranging from the plane Amelia Earhart flew on her nonstop solo flight across the Atlantic and Al Capone's rap sheet and mug shot to Dorothy's ruby red slippers and Archie Bunker's lounge chair. No major film has ever shot inside the Smithsonian in Washington…until Night at the Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian."

So apparently there is no story--all the allure comes from seeing someone film actually inside THE SMITHSONIAN. Reviews are about in line with the first film, which I think we all hated, and critical consensus says
it's busy enough to keep the kids interested but the slapstick goes overboard and the special effects (however well executed) throw the production into mania.

Dance Flick - (29% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes)

Dance Flick is a new comedy that brings together two generations of the Wayans family, the same team that brought us the Scary Movie franchise and White Chicks.  In Dance Flick, a young street dancer, Thomas Uncles (Damon Wayans, Jr.), from the wrong side of the tracks and a beautiful young woman, Megan White (Shoshana Bush), are brought together by their passion for dancing and put to the test in the mother of all dance battles. Critics are calling it everything from "actually funny" to "worst movie of the year", so watch at your own risk. If Little Man and White Chicks made you laugh, you should enjoy this...scratch that, if Little Man and White Chicks made you laugh, hit yourself in the head with a tack hammer.

What do you get when you cross Guy Ritchie with Iron Man and something a little funnier? Sherlock Holmes, of course!

The new trailer premiered tonight and it does NOT suck. It gives us Robert Downey Jr.'s brand of wisecrackery mixed with Ritchie's sense of action and unique camera trickery. I seriously laughed out loud a couple of times, which is rare for a trailer. My only quibble is the slight lacking of Rachel Adams in the trailer. But, then again, Ritchie doesn't really focus on women much...

Now we just have to wait til XMAS, when baby Jesus grants us the gift of RDJ. Looks like it might just be worth the weight, huh, Movie Pressers?

Peter Berg is actually a fairly decent director. Seriously. Friday Night Lights. The Kingdom. And even Hancock. All good movies. So why, in the name of all that is holy in movie-land, is he in talks to direct a Battleship movie?

Oh, yeah, you heard right--Battleship, folks. As in, "you sank my..." The filmmaker is in talks to direct a big-screen version of the Hasbro board game for Universal. Jon and Erich Hoeber have signed on to write the script. Apparently, the studio is looking to make an epic naval action adventure. No plot details have been announced.

Lest you forget: Universal has several board game titles in development as part of its six-year deal with Hasbro. Ouija Board is being produced by Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes shingle, Candy Land has Kevin Lima attached to direct with Etan Cohen writing the script, and Ridley Scott is developing a project based on Monopoly.

What the fuck is this world coming to?
